We have a motto in our family and it’s this, “Take fun, seriously”. Fun is such an important factor of our daily lives. It gives us joy, helps us make better connections with others, helps us overcome hopelessness, and it’s just…fun. It is serious business. So when we found a game-themed mansion in the Orlando, Florida area….we HAD to check it out!
Game Themed Mansion
The Great Escape Parkside is on a private, 10 acre property with 13 bathrooms, 15 bedrooms, sleeps up to 54 people, and every area of the property is themed fun-galore. It is seriously mind blowing! Each bedroom has its own unique game theme, two of them are escape rooms, and one is a laser maze! It has its own movie theatre, video game arcade, and carnival games, giant soccer billiards, human whack-a-mole, giant sized chess, the World’s largest printed maze, and wait until you see the pool
The Bedrooms
These bedrooms are out of this world. I mean, imagine being a token on a Monopoly board, well you no longer need to imagine….you can just experience it. You can also get thrown into the life-sized Monopoly jail if you decide to cheat at some of the games. Some of the rooms also are Escape Rooms. One is a Clue (or Cluedo depending where in the world you’re reading this) room where your have to flow the clues, search the room, find codes to find the killer. The other is a Risk Vs. Stratego, where you go head to head in different rooms to see who can solve the puzzle first and escape. Then we have all other themed rooms that include Mrs. Pac Man, Las Vegas Casino Hotel, Operation, Xbox, Lego, Scrabble, and more. One of our favorite rooms was the laser maze room, where you fill the room with smoke turn on the laser and see if you can make it through without breaking any!
Jumanji Themed Movie Theatre
What better way to make you feel a part of a game in a game themed mansion, than watching Jumanji in a Jumanji themed movie theatre! That’s exactly what we did! You enter through an old-fashioned lobby. A small 90's era TV plays a VHS tape of the classic "Jumanji" film & sits atop a showcase filled with movie relics...including an autographed Robin Williams photo!
The theatre is a hand-painted masterpiece with a story sketched on the that wall tells you of events that took place some time ago: “One night, the owners got "carried away" playing a video game in the lobby of a movie theater. The next thing they knew, they had stepped into the jungles of the Jumanji sequel and found themselves in different bodies. Now it's your turn...Welcome to the jungle!”
The World's Only Billiard Table Swimming Pool!
The swimming pool at Great Escape Parkside is undoubtedly one of the standout features of this luxurious mansion in the Orlando area. With its pristine waters, comfortable lounge chairs, the pool area is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a long day exploring the city's famous theme parks. But the most stand out feature about it is that it is the Worlds’ only pool, pool. Its a swimming pool in the shape and design of a pool table with the hot tub being the chalk for said pool table! It also has a theme park-style lazy river, a cue stick you can use as a water cannon!
There is also the straight shooter slide. You stand approximately 13' high at the top of the Straight Shooter Slide. You'll hear pre-recorded billiard vocal acting as your commentator as you "line up" your shot. Cross your arms. Cross your legs...and SHOOT! You’ll then be shot down the slide and hit the pool not before free falling from a 3 ft drop at the bottom of the slide.
When you're not floating, swimming, or sliding, you'll almost definitely be spending time around the poolside summer kitchen which includes a large grill, a mini fridge, a prep sink, and a dishwasher.
